Had some time so dropped the spare to work out any bugs before it is actually needed. Following are some questions and observations.
I have the factory beadlocks, so matching rim and KO2.
Questions
-Does the spare have an installed psi monitor, and if so, is it automatically recognized by proximity as my old Ram did?
-the rim has no weights installed. The mounted wheels have lots so I think it’s likely not balanced, normal???
-there is a sticker on the face of the rim “temporary use only” because.....it isn’t balanced?, it isn’t pressure monitored??, or perhaps factory dude just sticks that on all spares???
Observations
-remember the fob has a key inside that removes the bumper plug to lower the spare
-when raising the spare, tighten until it ratchets as per manual, can’t be overtightened.
-the jack has marks on the side to set the storage height, which makes placement much easier.
-I cleaned and put protectant on the wheel, but didn’t flip it as others have. My thinking is I think with face down, the rim may chip from gravel, and the the seating surface may tend to ice if facing up.
-the spare had 45psi in it so I left it (max rating). You can check and adjust the spare in stored position with a reverse chuck if you don’t want to drop it.
Lots of blahblahblah but hopefully something useful.
