If this has already been covered in another thread, let me know so I can delete this. I am not sure if this is Gen 3 specific, but I did not see the same cable on a Gen 2 next to mine. Just wanted to throw this out here. Make sure you have a tool to remove the safety cable from your spare tire. If you need to change it and don't have a tool, you're screwed. If ford provided a tool, I did not get one, or I do not look where to look. Here are some pictures

It’s not attached to the spare itself, it’s attached to the winch line end that feeds through the hub bore of the spare.

You can get the tire out without removing the cable.

Lmao you guys are funny. Thanks for the info. It was a royal pain getting the tire out even after taking the bracket off. Maybe it is easier to take that bracket off if you have tools?

Here’s a picture with the spare removed. How does the cable come apart?
