Unfortunately this is typical of Dodge/Chrysler. Always playing catch up.

Playing catch up? I didn't even know they were in the game...sorry couldn't resist. It'll be interesting to see what it is they come up with. I can't bash Chrysler too much though, they do have the Wrangler which is a very competent vehicle and I've owned two of them.

Chrysler? You mean Fiat? :D

The good news is Chrysler finally has an owner focused on making money and they certainly will. I expect they'll improve their Jeep lineup too so that should be interesting to watch.

Some major modification is in the future according to allpar. Engine and maybe interior but you will never see the 7 slot grille dissappear. That is the signature. I was debating a Unlimited before I realized the Raptor was out...

I'd actually like to buy a Jeep (J/K with four doors) but I want a Rubicon to start with and want a used one so I'm keeping my eyes open but in no hurry. I'd be a lot more interested if Fiat put a Hemi in the thing. AEV does it (high end aftermarket company that makes all kinds of great Jeep products and they do mods too - $pendy) and others will do it too. But there'd be no street legal issues if the factory offered it.

Uh-oh. Good thing Jason bought a Raptor first else he might have a Long Travel Ram 1500 on order!

Haha maybe... but I'm pretty sure this truck will never see the production line. Ram has been pretty upfront about it not being intended for production (at least so far).

Still though, I'll be keeping an eye on the concept. Competition is a great thing.

I'd like to see it. The coilover Kore designed suspension should be a comparable effort. I don't support Dogde or GM anymore but it would be nice to see this Ram outperform a Power Wagon on the rocks. I've never really considered a stock Power Wagon to be an outstanding rock crawler. The lockers and such are a great advantage but to be a serious rock crawler, or most offroading, a truck that big needs bigger tires.

I'm with you on NOT supporting Chrysler or GM. Another thing that influenced my decision was a work trip I took to the Army's National Training Center in the desert. I had a brand new rental Dodge truck for about 200 miles until I blew a tire. I swapped it for a brand new Ford truck that felt much more solid. The Dodge felt loose and less quality than the Ford. When I heard about the Raptor...then test drove one I knew it was the one for me.
