Ok…so I like the R, but it didn’t give me a wow feeling. Let me explain. The low end torque on it seemed like I was driving a Raptor w/ 37 not a 720 HP beast. To really appreciate the power you gotta get into the higher revs and then it takes off but can’t really do that too often. Outside of the engine, the R is pretty much a 37 (minus a few things) and I loved my ’23 w/37. I’m glad I checked the box on R, but am I going to miss it—no. Is it a killer truck, no doubt, but for a daily I don’t see the use (for me). If it had more of a punch taking off maybe would be more compelling for me.

I talked to the GM at dealer I that always work w/ directly, it was an easy decision to make the move back to a ’24 w/37 that just rolled off truck. He gave me $125K for my ’24 R (which I thought was strong), and he sold me a new ’24 w/ 37 for $6745 off MSRP. Think I could have done better there, but didn’t care as cut me back a check and brought home the 37.

As to ’24 w/37 I don’t care for these rims (23 had the best rims IMHO); the graphics are way too obnoxious vs w/ my ’23 so will probably just pull off; replacing the chrome lugs for black ones (did same on R and made it much better).

There was a thread here a while back where a bunch of R owners were selling for very similar reasons and @WTX warned me before I bought mine--well you were right. Anyway, no regrets, but happy to be back in standard ’37. I have a car problem in general, so these things don’t bother me. I once bought another car because the SiriusXM trial had run out and was too lazy to sign up so just bought another car. As I said I have issues. Love the Raptor no matter the flavor.

I get what you're saying, I nearly did the same thing. After testing a '24 37 package I couldn't go back. I put the pedal to the floor and felt like I was barely moving. I was plenty satisfied with the 3.5 Ecoburster in my '23, but once you've had a taste of the R, there's no going back.

Just the therapy session I needed to have. Thank you for saving me a TON of money...especially on gas...lol.

I have a similar car/truck buying problem. Your story, and Ford's terrible color selection on Rs (my opinion of course) are helping me overcome the desires...lol.

Congrats and good luck on the newest truck!

I can absolutely see your reasoning and not debate one iota. I enjoy the R but absolutely loved my 3.5. They run very strong.
Nice truck BTW.

Did the same. Sold my 23 (Kept a TRX) then went to a Wrangler 392, then Braptor before returning to a 24 37 pkg Raptor. Love the ride the most. Power is reasonable. Good range. Glad I’m back. The only reason I see to hold the R would be retained value.

You guys are nuts. 0-60 in 3.5 ain't slow for a 3 ton truck. Came from a 18 and now 24 R. Gas wasn't that much better in the 18... 100% to each their own and we all drive our own road. I'll be driving my road in an R
