really bummed about this also; what is funny is that I just had the clicking thing going one; still engaged 4wd etc but that was the dealership solution at the time just replace the whole damm thing which I think is crazy. A friend has the fx4 and has done your vacuum line thing and has NO problems. it just seems the cheap plastic seems to crack etc maybe from the cold or the brime stuff we put down on the streets when it snows. I have read that it will have regular 2w drive and then engage auto etc but you can't believe all that you read until they get these out and actually road test them. From that pic it does look exactly the same except for the new shock being beefier. I was hoping for it to actually be all wheel drive all the time. I know lots of you guys don't like that but with lots of exotic car companies running all wheel drive with lots of horse power etc and not having issues seems it will be ok. Plus I think Ken Block runs his fiesta rally car as all wheel drive and he is putting lots of horse power. Oh well I guess we have to wait and see

From the photos, it looks the same. Also the 15 model year trucks have the same.
When we spoke to Jamal during the SnoBall 500 he said some things they (meaning SVT) couldn't redesign. So they had to use what was available.

I don't see that changing. 10:1 there are IWEs on the new Raptor.

I have broken / worn out more front axle CVs than IWEs. Actually... I until I tear apart the truck next weekend, mine still might be good, with over 100k miles on them.

Best design ever? No, but just engage 4x4 and let the wheels roll for a while before hitting the gas hard. It will give the teeth the time to properly align and reduce the risk of shearing teeth.

Front what I have seen on a bench or two, you will have the same basic IWE in the next gen. It just doesn't pay for Ford to offer a different option between the standard and Raptor 150.

I found that if I go old school and come to a complete stop, engage 4WD while in neutral I have no issues.

Im pretty religious about my switch and engagement, rolling under no power and ease in to cofirm engaged etc... Think many of the issues ppl see are post stuck, in heat of moment then switch and getting on it hard to get unstuck stripping teeth etc

I think i use 4hi more than most ppl on our runs too, lots of switching. Still on my orig iwes, knock on wood to not use the spare i've been carrying for years.

I want to say the gen2s will use a beefier hub, maybe someone more credible can chime in here ;)

It seems to be one of those things where certain trucks are more prone to breaking them, so something slightly off within the truck? Vacuum issues? Joe's truck literally eats them no matter what he does.

Also its probably worth mentioning for the newbies that when you start your truck you need to wait 30 seconds or so before putting it into gear to let the vacumn disengage. If you don't do this, you could crack your IWE's without even ever using your 4WD.
