Not getting where you’re going with this cause it’s set to “Auto” so high beams won’t be on during the day.
He probably doesn’t get it because here in TX we don’t need high beams since we can run off road lights 24x7. ;-)

A normal person "might' have his headlights set to auto, which would mean his headlights wouldn't be on during the day. Now I am not privy to how the gen 3's operate, so feel free to correct me here, I like learning, are you saying that when the headlights are in auto and the driver puts the high beams on during the day, that they don't turn on? Or are you saving that with the headlights in "auto" the high beams arent allowed to be switched on. Do you get what I am getting at? all of the current boat anchors that I drive have the headlight "auto" feature that do allow the highbeams to be engaged as well while in auto during the day/night, whatever. SO my question is: does the dimming feature not enable the highbeams to operate during the day, because I will guarantee you that the yuppies will drive with their high beams on during the day if they can, they are entitled, don't forget.

Yes. With highlights set to auto, the high beams will not come on during the day (even on a Gen 2). If your headlights are turned on (no auto), then you can engage the high beams (on all the time).

Or are you saving that with the headlights in "auto" the high beams arent allowed to be switched on. Like my previous answer, the high beams just flash when you try to turn them on in “auto” but “will not” stay on (just courtesy flashes for someone to get the hell out of the way, lol).

Do you get what I am getting at? I do...the “abnormal” person driving around with low & high beams on…yes. This is usually that dude with one working headlight.
Edit to ask…why are you holding out on the Gen 3? Take that dive!

So, I will still see Gen 3's driving around during the day with high beams on and the cancel feature won't work during the day. Gotcha!! By the way I seen a Black Gen 3 today, it doesn't stand out as much as the Code Orange that I have seen several times. Still waiting to see a AMB in person, pretty sure that color will POP in the daylight. Not diving into a Gen 3, was forced into early retirement 3 years ago, so waiting til my investments mature enough for Trudeau to cash in on my taxes that I will have to pay so he can give more money away!

See above, please answer Texan, lol.

the auto high beam sensor is independent of auto-lamps if I understand correctly. You can manually activate the high beams all you want in ‘auto-lamp’ mode, but they won’t come on because the headlights aren’t on during the day. You’d need to select one setting counterclockwise or the ‘on’ position of the headlight dial switch and then toggle high beams on. Assuming that is still correct for Jen Tres.

The way to say ‘howdy neighbor’ to fellow drivers in Texas appears to be your off road lights. The brighter your lights, the friendlier you are.

I was coming back from the range one night with my nephew. For you Canadians, range doesn’t mean ‘oven’ in this context, it’s a shooting range, where folks go to shoot guns, blow $h!t up and general merriment. Anyway, it was dark while we were coming back and we get stopped at a 4x traffic lights. We are turning left on to FM1342. on our right, traveling straight on to the same road is a sheriff’s deputy in an SUV. Directly facing the deputy is a guy in a jeep, running FULL light bars - plural. We can not only make out the sheriff’s facial features, we can see the shadow created from the deputy in his SUV.

I turn to my nephew and proclaim: “this guy is for sure getting lit up, for lighting up the deputy”. The deputy literally puts his hand in front of his face to see and drives through the intersection when the light turns green, and doesn’t look back. Jeeper also goes on his merry way. I’ve seen the same scenario 2x here but the other guy was just some bright pods. Jeeper dude was turning night into day.

so I guess high beams are overrated here?

So lets see if this Canadian gets this right? You go to the oven to shoot guns, you go to the range to eat cake and Texans drive with a bic lighter out the window at night to see. And the Sherrif/Ranger got his badge from a Crackerjack box. :favorites13: :33:

PS: do you texans' have corn chips down there, I can't seem to buy them up here anymore, wtf?
