I'm going to be installing the rpg gen 2 stage 2 bump stop kit along with icon leaf spring kit.

I'm wanting to know if there are any tricks or special tools needed to do the job or make it an easier install.

Or just any input about both.

I'm not sure if I'm going to run the springs at option 1 or option 2 yet. But pretty stoked for this install.

All info is appreciated and looking forward to hearing from everyone.

I just installed my Icon leafs a few weeks ago, option 2. You'll need a second set a hands, although I did most myself (it just took longer). I removed the rear shackles with the leafs, since I upgraded to RPG shackles. The driver's side is harder than the passenger because of the gas tank. Make sure to have a torque wrench that is 1/2" for the high torque specs. I used a cordless impact gun which made removal easier. I made sure to grease the bushings to make install easier. You'll also need taller jack stands to support the frame.

I installed Deavers and SVC bumps a few weeks ago. Not exactly the same, but many lessons should be similar.

I watched the Keep it Dirty videos on deaver spring and RPG bump installs. Lots of good tips there and I recommend you have a look.

I bought and used high quality sawzall blades (Milwaukee Torch - Carbide tips) to cut the bolt at the front of the leafs where the gas tank is. I can't remember but I think I used two blades. I think this really saved some time compared to regular metal blades.

I also had to grind off tabs on the axle for the SVC bumps. Not sure about the RPG bump pads. An angle grinder with flap discs helped make it all smooth.

Really clean off threads on all bolts, which helps with removal quite a bit.

I removed the spare and also the exhaust, which created more room to work underneath the truck.

I did one spring at a time, which helped keep things from flopping around too much.

Definitely get a hand from a buddy, as the springs are heavy.

Impact wrenches will speed things up for you, but also make sure to torque everything properly ... with wheels on the ground.

Finally, I sprayed everything with fluid film to keep rust at bay.

Yeah I watched the keep it dirty video which was very informative in the install. I have a parts and tool list for the install of both.
I'm thinking it will go pretty good especially once I get one side in.
@Ryan C we will have to get together soon after I get them in for a good rip in Squamish or something.
A warm indoor shop is going to be key for the install, good thing for good friends with shops.

The advice from you @RyanC and @Swaddict is great and appreciate the insight.

Option two all day long, there been a few reports that option one will rub your exhaust. Which cans are you putting in your rpg stage two kit? I went with the fox 2.0s and am loving it when offroading.

@Jace21583 I'm probably going to do option 2 as well for when its loaded with gear and such.
I've heard a few stories of that happening as well (exhaust rubbing). I went with the fox 2.5x2.5 and very much looking forward to the offroad improvement

I used a lift to do mine, which made things immensely easier. The driver side bolt is a bitch on the leaf springs. I chewed through like 5 sawzall blades and a few cutoff wheels, as you can't use a whole wheel given the access there. Then I just used an impact to break the head off with torque when i got tired of cutting through the rest of the bolt head. The deavers are heavier than a ****, so two people were required. I didn't pull anything else, as the exhaust was like 50 bolts to take apart and the muffler was like 100 lbs. Worked out, but not a cake walk.

Oh man a lift would make for a much better install. I guess I better get one before I do it haha @Christyle
Yeah I think I'm going to get some really good blades to do the bolt cuts. Since I hear standard metal blades don't work as well as a carbide style blade.
Yeah I think it will take the better part of 2 days and a case or 2 of beer haha

Get a second set of hands. The springs are heavy and bulky.
Also get a good cut off wheel to cut the leaf spring bolts rather then dropping the gas tank.

Leafs and bumps are installed now. I did a majority of the work myself and a couple things came up while doing the process.
- Speed sensor mounts had to be cut off and ground down smooth to fit strike plates on both sides properly. Nowhere on anything says to cut those off so be aware that they HAVE to be cut off and cleaned up
- As well as Icons torque specs are not correct other than their u-bolt nuts (40ft.lb-140ft.lb).
- Noticing both sides, retaining sleeve bolts are rubbing the exhaust at full droop in option 2.
Over all not a hard hard job just tedious and take your time.
