Roush hi-cap intercooler

Has anyone added the new hi-cap intercooler to their roush truck? Wondering if you can see any difference or if it is just something else to throw money at?

I say without fans yes it's a waste of money.
Either put fans on what you have or go all out and get Whipple's HD HE kit.
It's double the cap then Roush's Hi Cap and comes with fans and all brackets and plug and play wiring.

Fits both Whipple and Roush.

my understanding was that a few Roush owners have installed Whipple's HD HE already.
Was there specific concerns mentioned as what the difficulties would be?
Just for Roush owners FYI.

From a while back, it is $975 plus Tax and Shipping. This may or may not have changed, it's not up on their website. :-(
I would ask some of the vendors here on this forum if there are any deals.

Our new Roush LTR is over double the size of the thinner unit that was released to add on to the smaller LTR if you had one of the initial kits. I'll be having mine put on when I get back to the states and removing the older model. You can't go wrong with both units combined which gives 422 in. sq of cooling surface.

As for the fans the team at Roush explained they're pretty much not needed unless you plan on driving under 25mph to see them really affecting anything at tests with speeds over 25mph the fans running proved pretty null to the overall cooling ability while driving, and since most wont be running 25mph or lower they decided to go with the setup as is.

The Whipple kits can be installed with our setups it's only hose work, since I was originally going to run that setup until I heard Roush was testing a larger LTR and electric fan setup but as stated here's what Roush decided on after testing.

In my opinion you're good and can't go wrong with either if you chose between the two.

I do want to add, since I'm usually sitting in traffic on the highway going 25 to 45 mph in the summer months 90+ the fans do help a lot. And I recommend them!!!
With the cars in front of you and the heat coming off the road it's going to take a long time to cool off the HE to start cooling the coolant.
This is what I have observed when playing around with the fans on and fans off.
You will be surprised how fast the IAT climbs when you come to a light. The fans will help with this, big time.

Another point is, in the winter months like we just went through,
I have hooked up my fans to a uplifter switch so I can turn them off because it took forever for my truck to warm up.
Plus not wanting to suck all the salt up into the engine is a plus.

So it comes down to where you live and where you will be driving. IMHO

I love the whipple cooler. I'm often in traffic jams and appreciate the fans helping out. They ARE loud though. If your bothered by fan noise you may not like them. Just put headers on and they fade into the background!!

Hey fastcote, how did you do during the winter with the HE fans?

I know NYCMetro just unplug his, he never got a chance to wire his fans up to an uplifter switch.
but plugged them right back up when it started to go above 30 degrees.
