GEN 2 Rooftop Tent Bed Rack

Looking at purchasing a CVT RTT. Do any of you have any experience with a bed rack that will work with a BakFlip F1 tonneau cover? So far, all I see is KB Voodoo. Also, if you have other suggestions regarding RTT’s I would love to hear them. Thank you!

I saw one on a new Ranger in the local Ford dealership showroom. The cost for that monstrosity on the vehicle sticker was over $1,700. Now I'm something of an experienced mountaineer and have camped many times above 12,000 feet, and I'm here to tell you that no one need pay that kind of money for a tent unless they are high altitude Alpine climbers. (Think Himalayas, Alps, Denali, etc.) That "tent," elevated as it is some ten feet above ground level, will be a big sail under windy conditions. Geeeze, don't buy one of those things. I have used RTT’s on my Tacomas for many years. After using one, I will never go back. Convenience + comfort makes them well worth the $$ IMO. I didn’t have a bed cover on my Taco so really struggling with bed rack options. I camp 25-30 nights per year so ready to figure this out.

Take a look at the new Yakima Overhaul HD. I believe it works with bed covers of many sorts, adjustable height and seems pretty modular. I am on the market for a rack as well but I haven’t found one quite yet I like (no bed cover on my truck). Coming from a Tacoma, there were plenty of options for racks.
As far as tents, I have a cheap’o Smittybilt RTT. For the price I think it works good enough. I don’t camp enough to spend $1500+ for a RTT.

I have a Kodiak bed tent that works great. Only issue is you have to displace your gear to the cab or outside. Tent is made from soft canvass.

Get a Leitner Rack and it will take all kinds of RTTs.
Overland Expo only had about 100 different models at their show in Flagstaff recently.
Rtts have been very popular with the Toyota set for many years.

I like my Napier bed tent. Way cheaper than RTT that my buddy has on his Tacoma. Plus no bed rack in the way to limit hauling kayaks. Both options are very fun!

Does anyone have any experience with the kb voodoo bed rack?
