Stop me if you have heard this one before....So I am an idiot and bought a 2013 loaded raptor last may, 2022 top of the market. I did some research on here abou the rust, and of course asked the dealer about it. I was living in Wyoming at the time. I was missing my 2019 that I sold for a nice profit. I was using it to its true potential, tearing up the Wyoming desert. I was so focused on the fact that this was a pavement princess in Chicago that I looked past the salt/rust issues. So I flew out to chicago, didn't get it inspected and drove away. I completely missed these diamond plates that were tacked on to hide the damage ( I had them lined when redid the rockers). I am now in Texas, humidity and its getting worse. It is paid off, I probably need a truck, don't need a raptor anymore though. It has 94k miles, every option on it. Sell or fix?

one guy glanced at it and said 11k...

Edit - 11k to fix....I paid 43k for it (73k miles at the time....it is paid off.

Sorry, 11k to fix it. Barely looked at it. I think was calculating worst case when did numbers but not sure. Didn't get underneath and look at things.

Bummer. Either decide to fix it or drive the doors off, which may not be too long. :p Sorry, couldn't help it.

We got one from chicago a few years ago, has some rust as well, not that bad though, nothing visible unless under the truck. It does gnaw at me knowing it's there, but that's about it.

We got one from chicago a few years ago, has some rust as well, not that bad though, nothing visible unless under the truck. It does gnaw at me knowing it's there, but that's about it.
Does this cause any structural damage like if I a wreck? When I step on the running boards it dips a little and squeaks. I can live with it if it is not going to make the truck split in half when in a wreck...

Anyone want to give me a quote? I am in a smaller town of 15k in East Texas....better going to larger city and getting it looked at?

You’re in a pickle. I did the same, having not known about the 09-14 cab corner/rocker issue until too late.

Bought a South Dakota by way of St. Louis truck. Checked out with PPI, no codes, everything else looked good, but they didn’t mention this as a future issue.

Two years and IL salt later, my cab corners are perforated through. As I drive down the road now I look at other similar Year F-150s and nearly all have cab corner rot, and most likely rockers too.

I figure, if an 09 can handle it this far mine should be good until I pay it off, then I’ll throw some money at it to fix them as I’d like to keep it forever.

TL:DR I have to live with this type of thing being up North. Yours will only get worse. I’d say if you are able, chuck it and get a clean southern state truck so you don’t have to worry about it.

The dealers up here are still clamoring for trucks if they aren’t down there. They will fix it or hide it to sell it to someone up here for a few extra bucks.

Is it me or in the very first pick, doesn’t it look like it’s been repaired before (right above the door seal) ?The bed is gonna have to come off in order to repair it fully and correctly. It’s gonna be pricey for sure but it will be TOTALLY worth it IMO. Replace the 3rd brake light gasket, drill out the rivet that holds down the top plastic cover on the roof of the cab seam and silicone the hole then attach new rivet, extend the sunroof drain tubes out from inside the rocker, then get it repaired.
BTWA, that black diamond plate someone out on didn’t help things either, putting those screws in there like that…. That’s a shame…

I have no idea about structural integrity. Some guys from the Rust Belt will chime in probably.
