Sorry I don't have any pictures but here are the results. I stood in front of the truck with the rigids on and they were bright, but not blinding because they seem to be aimed correctly. I drove home (about 35 miles) with them on and didn't have a single high beam flash, so I guess they don't cause problems for other drivers. All-in-all I'd say they are a good solution to the weak headlight problem. They really fill in the sides well and look as bright as the OEM headlights it just gives you a much wider pattern.

Can you share how you hooked them into the high beams? Are they ONLY triggered off of the high beams, or can you also turn them on with the low beams on (like with an aux switch)?
Couple of things.
If there are other drivers around, you do NOT need to run these. It doesn't matter how they're aimed, you're going to **** people off, hurt their eyes, and you're breaking the law. It doesn't matter if you're breaking the law when you're by yourself on a back road. But If you have a light bar on in traffic, I hope you pass a cop...even in my tall Raptor, I still hate people that run light bars, still hurts my eyes.

As to how, just use a standard SPST relay, connect the 12V power to the upfitter, and energize the relay with the high beam wire. Just do a simple inline wire tap off the high beam, carry that to the relay coil.

It will only fire the light when the upfitter is on and the high beams are engaged. Which is the only time you need a light bar on. There's no logical reason to run a light bar and not your high beams.
But this also allows you to run high beams and no light bar by turning the upfitter off, should you have a reason to do that.

Yeah I'm ok with it. It's about the equivalent of having 2 headlights aimed a little to the sides of the regular beam pattern. Plenty bright for my needs.

I hooked the Amber back light to the aux 5 switch and leave it on all the time.


Where did you buy the bracket? I'm looking at adding the Rigid Industries 50481 D-Series SAE Fog Light Set. I found someone who was selling a 2 light setup but havent been able to find a 3 light bracket.

can you maybe post pic of bracket used for mounting to bumper?? thanks looks great gonna be my first mod when it gets a bit warmer

I was thinking about the high beam relay, but... specifically an inspection violation in VA. along with just about any iteration of having any kind of light and--- if you mount the lights, they must work, the only exception is they’re covered with a non redneck like cover. what a PITA.

You’re counsel is true though. You get into a bad situation with another motor and they’ll make some crap up about you blinding them with your lights. Don’t give them an excuse.

Iam not sure what state you are in but here in TN you are allowed to have fog lights and it doesnt matter what they are so long as they are not above a certain height. I have rough country cubes in the fog light position on my 14 Sierra Z71 (Raptor should be here in May) and I run them all time. I get brightlighted occasionally but it isnt that often and Ive been in front of and behind cops on multiple occasions and have never been pulled over for them. My factory headlights suck ass and are dangerously dim, at least for me, at night. I dont live in the city with a ton of street lights, I live in a small(ish) town and travel mostly county highway and country type roads with a ton of deer.

Now, I agree with you on light bars. I see kids with their light bars on during the day and I feel the same as you. However, I have a 20" bar in my bumper and a 40" behind the grill and I completely disagree with your assertion that "There's no logical reason to run a light bar and not your high beams". I turn my light bars on when I need them, mostly on backroads but as I said, my factory headlights suck and there is no logical reason to turn on my hi beams when I have my light bars on. They add absolutely nothing to my light bars. I have mine on switches in the cubby in front of my console easily within reach while driving and I keep my fingers on the switch in case there is an oncoming car.

Why not just tie all your lights in with your high beams? You kind of made my point for me. Who cares if your high beams don't add anything to the LEDs, the point is you shouldn't be using any LED cubes/bars in a place you wouldn't use your high beams.

As to your "fogs:"
You realize they're terrible for fog, right? I know, because I have the same cubes. They're the wrong color, and they just scatter light everywhere, they don't shine under the fog. They're also bright as hell to opposing drivers. Again, I know, I have them. I've had my fiance drive towards me in it when I was in her car and my dad's truck. Too bright if other cars are around. It doesn't matter how low they are. You could put them on the ground, and they still glare right in others' eyes.

I just can not be convinced there's ever a good time to use non-DOT fog lights of ANY sort with anything other than high beams. If you wouldn't use your highs in a situation, then that means there's other light around you (cars, street lights, etc) and your lows should be enough, regardless of how "bad" they are. If a car is coming towards you, then their lights are helping you see the road/ditch.


I'll go ahead and get off my soapbox now. Maybe I just care too much about being considerate of my fellow man.
