Rotors get grooves in them due to either something hard geting stuck in the pad, usually a rock- or uneveness in the pad material hardness or the rotor itself. It shouldn't cause vibrations though.

Pads and rtors are realtively cheap though and if you are due, just swap them out. If it's at a dealer, have them put the original Ford stuff on there. If it's not- just install whatever the shop likes to use, but have them stick with a plain rotor.

The "replace caliper" directive is a Les Schwab company policy. It is not required on every brake job, at my place calipers are each inspected and replaced on an individual bases.

Wow, I have never had a caliper fail. I have had to grease the pins and replaced a set of pins on a 200k miles 1999 f150. I would think you would increase the risk of failure having those knuckle busters work on it.

doubt it’s the brakes. as i said it’s probably the iwe check valve. Does it make the noise in 4A?
After I received your message, I took the truck out for a spin in 4A. Because I previously indicated the noise is intermittent, I will not bet my life on it, but it did not occur in 4A.
1. What is an IWE check valve?
2. What function does it perform?
3. Is the Ford Dealer the best option to replace it?
4. Any idea about the cost?

Thank you in advance to taking the Tim to respond!!
