RetraxONE vs RetraxPRO

So I have pretty much narrowed it down to these two cover.

The debate I have is it worth the extra $600 to go with the PRO?

PRO gives the lifetime warranty and nice powdercoated aluminum panels and few other added perks

but from a usability standpoint its it really worth the extra cost.

im not planning on abusing the bed or anything. just standard things. its seems the durability and longevity of the PRO might last me longer.

whats everyone else thoughts -- did you splurge and upgrade to the PRO and why?

Splurged for the Pro. Had the entire thing replaced later for free (after a lot of fighting).

I too went with the Pro manual, not the motorized one.
I liked the t-slots in the side rails for Yakima, Thule, etc. stuff that can be added on for even more carry capacity.
Overlanders should take a look at the RETRAX PRO, topside tents, etc.

I've never once in my life been sorry for buying the best. I have however been sorry for trying to save a few dollars, then wishing I had purchased the best.

I have the Retrax One XR as preperation for this year’s Snoball event. I opened it everyday to load things in/out of the bed and I never had an issue. I have not stepped on it, nor do I plan to, so I’m not sure how well it’ll hold up but I believe it’s rated to ~200 lbs. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a bed cover.

Retrax recommended the aluminum slays for hot climates. I’m in TX so I went with a PRO MX.

Gonna put Yakima gear on it.

I had a variety of problems with adjusting it to continue to fit right. The friction lock became worthless and a lot of the hardware basically rust welds into place you can't you can't re-tighten stuff - and I live in Denver, so we're not talking humid. About $5 more in decent bolts would prevent the problem, but whatever. They didn't want to help me out, then I complained on a FB post and they sent me a brand new Pro MX. They didn't have the MX (flat black instead of gloss) when I first got it, and I like the MX better than the gloss. I like the look better and it's more scratch resistant.

All in all, I like the thing, but I have had some issues with it. You really have to keep it all tight - especially if you are bombing through stuff. Otherwise it can sieze up in the rails, the brackets can fall off, etc. You just have to keep an eye on all of the stuff and I would recommend tightening/loosening the adjustment screws every once in a while just to keep them free. Also, put some lock tite on the little white stoppers at the tailgate end of the rail. They like to back out.

Oh, and the thing is supposedly rated to hold 500 lbs (distributed) on top, but I'd never try anything close to that.

+1 for the retrax pro mx. Aluminum>Plastic. Especially in Texas. This is my 2nd truck with this cover.
