OK, What did I do with my new Raptor? Well for the first week of ownership, I tried 17 times a day in 109 - 117 degree temps to fold down the rear drivers seat.
Yep, You heard it. I know over 4000 posts exist on this very simple task. But, before you get all judgmental, let me throw out a few defenses....
#1 I am old. I am old enough to know an original Raptor, and it had NO back seat. Everything came in the front, and went out the rear.
#2 it is a SCAB So, NO the back of the seat does NOT come forward when you lift the bottom of the seat in the up position. This leaves pretty much 0.00 clearance.
#3 My hands are really modeled after "Edward Scissor Hands" During my long, very long, exceptionally long work career, all (and I mean all) my fingers have been broken. Some several times. I raise a fist to show a victory sign. (it is the closest I can do). I can only imagine some of your thoughts right now reading this....I would give you the finger, but it would just come out like a fist.
#4 It is damn hot here in AZ right now, and even hotter in my garage. It's so hot... I saw a squirrel picking up nuts with pot holders! It's so hot... I saw a funeral procession pull thru a Dairy Queen! It's so hot... I saw two trees fighting over a dog!
I was able to pull the pin with a wire. Where was the factory strap that is attached to the pin? Well stuffed down inside the cutout for the bracket. (My fault I guess as I only paid mid 60's for the Raptor. Must have been the "kit" version.)
If you are still reading, I did want to throw out something sorta important. In all the 100's of video's I watched, the position of the rear seat bottom was not really clear. I started to question if the pin would release if the seat was up or down. (The passenger side only releases with the seat bottom down. (At least on mine).
Anyway, I had the seat bottom folded up, like many videos. When the back "popped," it would not fold until I pulled the seat strap. They both lowed together.
Anyway, with all this now accomplished, next week I might get to sit in the drivers seat (if I can figure out where it is.
