Does anyone know of a rear bumper that has an integrated swing out tire carrier? I think that would be functional and safe.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking of but thought it might have been in production by a large company good to know though. I may have to contact him to see what a package price would be.

Search for Tiregate

They make a tailgate replacement that hold a spare and swings out. That is going to be the closest thing you are going to find that is made in mass production by a larger company.

I like the tailgate tire carrier option but don't think that will work with my backflip bed cover.

.

I've talked with the Raul B a few times and he seems like an okay dude. He is building an F150 Overland vehicle.

He stated that he was going to paint and do some more "finishing work" on the bumper.

I stated that I was interested as long as the rear bumper sensors could be retained as well as mounting the spare(s) out of the way of the rear camera, which should be doable.

@Rock-eater, I believe you are on Expedition Portal as well. Raul B has a build thread on that site which may have some good info. http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/119901-F150-overland-build

The problem with the Tiregate version is that it is added on to the stock bumper and doesn't replace it.

I'd rather have something like this on my truck:

I agree that it would be great to locate the tire so that the rear camera can be retained but I'm not sure it's possible without blocking one of the taillights.
