Well, like every good story, mine starts with "No sh*t there I was..." My friend and I went out to an off-road park here in Alabama over the weekend and I had an interesting adventure. It's a really awesome place called Boggs and Boulders. He was running around with his 4-wheeler and I was following in the Raptor (A.K.A. Foxy.)
It was mostly dry so I had fun kicking up sand and scaring all the wildlife. The SW Full exhaust is nasty and absolutely amazing. On more than one occasion I had guys on 4-wheelers pull over to watch for what animal was screaming around the course.
Let's get to the part you all came here for, or as I like to call it, how I fu#ked up. My rule is if I can't see the bottom I won't go through it. My buddy in the 4-wheeler was running through some water hole that looked like fun. It was dry as I said so very little mud anywhere else in the park. He went through several times and was able to walk across at little more than ankle deep. This is where the accident sequence starts. I walked across and around the area and it was fairly solid and not more than 6 inches deep. I got back in the truck and decided to get her muddy. About 3/4 of the way across she slid to the right about three feet with a hard tilt to the right. I had apparently found very weak mud and now the right side is sinking. I was stuck. The truck was still running and my buddy went to get his truck. He tried and tried but Foxy wouldn't move.
Then it kind of went to hell in a hand basket real fast. The electronics stopped working all together. Then the engine shut off. At this point nothing worked with the exception that the lights were on. I tried to charge everyone $5 per picture as it seemed that a Raptor stuck in the mud was the main attraction. Everyone wants to tell you things like "OMG you got a $60,000 truck stuck?!" or "Dude, that's a Raptor!" Well, yes, I was there, and I know what kind of truck I own.
Now the truck is dead in the water. Some people were nice and they went to find the almighty Connor who I was assured had a Jeep and a 16,000 pound winch that could "Snatch you right outta there!" After we broke his cable in about 3 seconds the owner showed up with a Backhoe. He was able to pull it out dead. We opened the doors and water drained out. Then the electronics came back to life and she started!
I drove it out and to the wash rack to assess the issues. While I expected the electronics to be a little crazy everything mechanically seems to have fared just fine. We cleaned the mud off and I drove it to his house to start the real assessment process. There was a ton of water and mud under and in the carpet. I am currently having it professionally cleaned and dried.
Issues I could use help with: The passenger power seat works in all directions except backwards and the left headlight stays on?? I'm confused about that.
