Hey guys,
I'm posting here because, well, I'm indecisive and have no bad options. I've owned 2 Raptors previously: A 2014 and a 2020. I absolutely ADORED the 2014 Raptor. Best truck I've ever owned. Best vehicle I've ever owned. If I could buy a brand new 2014 Raptor right now then I probably would. I never should have sold it, but I was offered a great deal on an Eco-Boost model with it as a trade-in and I had 90k miles on it. I loved the eco-boost but it just wasn't the same. I ended up getting a 2022 F-350 Tremor with the 7.3L gas.
I absolutely love my F350 Tremor. It's well-built, comfortable, and I've got a fantastic aftermarket stereo in it (fit 2x JL Audio 10w7s under the rear seat with a full sized box, thunders like a Rosharan Highstorm.) Seriously, aside from the 2014 Raptor this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. It's roomy and built like a tank. My only complaint is that it's ENORMOUS. No really, it's tall. Really tall. 83.5 inches, give or take. Tall enough that while I can fit it in my 7' personal garage (with so little clearance I need to keep my PSI at or below 70 or else I hit the weather stripping) I would never trust the consistency of a 7' commercial garage. I did once and ended up getting my roof repainted. This isn't a big enough concern for me to sell the truck, but dropping down to 80.6" would be really nice.
So why am I considering a Raptor R? Because I miss the feel of the 2014. I miss that tight, almost sports-car feel in a truck.
I have never driven a Raptor R. My questions are as follows:
1.) Does the Raptor R have that same tight, well-made feel that the 2014 had? I test drove a Ram TRX and it was perfectly fine, but my F350 Tremor feels better. Should I expect that 2014 feel in the R?
2.) If I buy one, should I buy one now, or should I wait a year or three? I don't know how long Ford will offer the Raptor R and I definitely want one before they discontinue it. When/if I get it I plan on driving it until the wheels fall off. I've only got about 30k miles on my F350 so I'm in no rush, and if the R doesn't live up to my hopes and dreams then I'd like to know now, before I make the purchase.
If anyone has any other thoughts or questions I'm all ears. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thank you in advance for any input.
