Maybe you guys can help me out. I'm in Afghanistan at the moment, but will be back in the US on Feb 1st. I ordered my 2012 Screw Tux Black in October. I got the Lux. Pkg, Nav., Front and rear cam, and a moon roof. Well, I got a email from my dealer today. He said my paperwork just got submitted for the build. He doesn't have a build date. I've only put a $1,000 down for the order. I'm getting this truck for $49,000. My question is, if my truck isn't ready when I get home. Should I bail on this truck and look for one that is ready or wait it out? I've been reading the post about Reptar and some other guys and the wait is uncalled for. I won't have a car when I get home and I sure don't want to rent one. I was thinking, if I don't have this truck by the last week in January, should I just go on Ebay and look for one??? Should I just ride out the storm and wait till my truck is delivered?? Just looking for some answers..

The only prob with getting one off eBay is spending more money for it most likely. I'd say if you have the extra cash, then id have one to drive when I got home. Now if its only going to be a week or two wait that's a different story.

are you buying through ENCS the car sales at the px? If not then they do price match and you might get a quicker build date than your dealer. It is at least worth talking to them before you pull your order. If it isn't built yet then I wonder if you can change some options for a quicker build time.

I had almost everything you had except for the front camera and i ordered early November and it was only a month time from order to build, then another 2 weeks for delivery. Keep in mind this is all through the holiday season.

Also, do you have the VIN yet? Once you get the vin and can view the window sticker then the timeframes will get a bit clearer.

You're talking a matter of a month or two... I would DEFINITELY wait for the exact truck you want, and maybe save a little money too!

I ordered mine while in Afghanistan as well and had to deal with the great delay of the 6.2 engine when it first came out. Waited 2 months after returning from deployment for the truck...If you have a ride you get back, I say wait for it. ENCS is really the way to go for buying a vehicle while overseas.

all depends if you really want the exact truck you ordered, or if you're flexible on what it comes with. I was set in stone, I'm spending $50k, I want exactly what I ordered, no more, no less, and the only way to get that was wait it out. If you're flexible though, you may be able to get one sooner by picking one up off a dealers lot, the issue then though is if you can get the same pricing.

If you don't have a VIN# by now, you aren't going to see the truck Feb 1st. I got my VIN# Dec 15th with a build date of Jan 16th. It's usually around 2 weeks from build to delivery, so I should get mine the last week of January. With any hope I may get it a little sooner, but no guarantees. If you're not getting a VIN# assigned till sometime this week or later, I'd say you're already looking at the 1st week of Feb build date at soonest, which would put delivery in mid feb to possibly march.

You could be in for a long wait. I ordered my 2012 from a dealer in MN towards the end of Sept. and I still don't have a VIN number. Assuming you ordered from a dealer also in MN and it's the same ford ordering region, it could very well be delivered after March. I'm now planning on a March delivery for a best case scenario if I stick with the order.

Where did you order yours from? I ordered mine from Redwood Falls. I really don't think I can wait till March. That would screw with my whole schedule of coming home and getting things done....This is not good.
