i went off roading tonight and found something weird. hopefully you guys can help me out.

muddy dirt road, 4hi, orm on. hitting the brakes i felt a skipping, almost like abs, but i didnt think they would be on. and if they were not at that speed. i was doing about 30-35mph and hit the brakes. i felt the skipping, so i let off and reapplied the brakes (very quickly) but the second time it did not do it. it happened a coupe times tonight. is this the abs kicking in? when i tried it again, i was going faster and same thing. what is it?

How rough was the road? Was the truck bouncing up and the wheel locking when you hit the brakes?

I believe ORM doesn't completely disengage the ABS. They do kick in at low speed. If you are cruising along and hit the brakes they will dig in but ABS will kick in once you are slow enough.
Don't remeber if holding the Traction Control button for 20 sec will fully disengage them either. I had a full write up on this with JP7 on here and I'll have to check it unless you want to do the search.

Ironman is right... The nanny systems are still functional in ORM... Only way to disable is removal of the ABS main fuse.

thanks ironman, i did a search last night on brakes and came up with 27 pages. after a while i gave up....

when this happened the second time the road was pretty flat (at ths point) slightly downhill and muddy/gravel. i was going into a turn about 45-50mph hit the brakes and it started that "skipping" so i let off and quickly reapplied them at about 35mph just as hard as the first time. but no skipping. it seems that when this happens its always only the first time i apply the brakes and doesnt matter what speed i am going.

Busa, hold the traction button till the gauge cluster screen says trac off. It takes like 5-6 seconds. That should do it.

well I believe that in ORM the ABS only engages below like 20 mph but don't quote me on that.
There was a Raptor video by Ford with Hameedi the head of the SVT engineering dept. who indicated this.
Your incident sounds a little odd and I'd look into it if it happened again.
I'll try and find the video.

Good luck, Busa. I upgraded to stainless, braided brake lines and the R1Concepts slotted/drilled rotors and ceramic pads after my fender bender when I felt the brakes weren't working as well as they should for such a heavy truck. I've been pleased ever since, but I have not experienced what you're experiencing. much luck in finding if it's abs or something else.
