I've been running the Passport Max and very happy with it. The range is outstanding and saved my butt twice against pop radar traps.

Another first Page Poster said it best...If V1 had GPS for Known sites/Falsies....it would be PERFECT.

You cannot beat the arrows though. If you have lived w/the Arrows...you can't live w/out them. I own 4...have em in all my vehicles. I just hit the Mute button when the K band BS comes up, and if I didn't drive around in rural NH on the weekends I would Kill off K band altogether like I did X...which the V1 lets you do.

Different detectors are good for different things.

Windshield mounted detectors:
Best range (highway): ****** Redline
Best daily (city): Passport Max
Best situational awareness: Valentine 1

Installed detectors: Beltronics STI-R+

The STIR+ is the same as the ****** 9500ci without the shifters. The ****** shifters are only capable of blocking some LIDAR threats. If you want true LIDAR protection, look at Laser Interceptor, Blinder, or Anti-Laser.

My favorite setup if I spared no expense would be:
Beltronics STI-R+ installed
Laser Interceptor HP Quad
Valentine 1 with custom Ka sweeps and V1c

At the end of the day you have to ask yourself how you drive (city/highway), how much protection you want, and how much you want to spend.

I use ****** 9500CI, I have had 4 now and love them.. They are completely legal in California. It is illegal to block or jam police of any kind everywhere in the US now as it is considered to be broadcasting on a police band or frequency. However with that said proper installation and training you should be safe and protected from Lidar/Radar when used properly. The ****** can be set to detect or block and is legal in the detect position. I have installed it in my wife's Mustang, my old F150, Raptor, Corvette and a host of friends and others.. Works very well and you don't have to worry to much it is there and on at all times...

False.
1. LIDAR countermeasures are illegal in California. They are illegal whether they are installed or not...it does not matter if they are set to detect or jam, merely the possession of a jammer is illegal. Yes, if used properly they can be undected.

2. Laser is controlled my the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) not the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) therefore, you can cause harmful interference with LIDAR because you are not blocking a signal, you are blocking UV light with UV light. However, on a state by state basis, states can and have outlawed LIDAR countermeasures. California and Texas are two of those states. That being said, if used properly, they can go undetected. And yes, it is illegal in all 50 states to block radar.
