Those w/ the +3HD Deavers - do yall feel these ride too stiff when bed is empty? Trying to decide between the HD vs non & from what I gather it seems the HD ride like the stock springs and not overly stiff.

Thanks

The HD is designed for folks who consistently carry weight in the bed (racks, spare, gear, etc.) or who tow/haul often. If you ride around unloaded, they are a stiffer spring. The standard +3 does have some beefed up capacity over the +2, but the +3 is intended to have weight on it most of the time. Hope this help with your decision making and please let us know if we can help get you setup!

I “w”ed my stock springs and replaced with +3HD. With the +3s hitched up to the 800#+ tongue of my boat it drops about 2” vs hitting the bump stops driving around stock. The truck is still incredibly compliant over crappy roads, I cannot tell a difference. I also added King 3.0s up front and cannot therefore give an opinion on just Deavers; however can say that with the combo it does handle bigger, sharper hits while rolling and diving less. The +3HDs have ELEVEN progressive leafs vs whatever was stock.

My only complaint about Deaver is their absolute crap corrosion protection. I had them put on an extra coating of paint (which they applied after assembly) and I also sprayed them a week later with WD-40 via a bug sprayer. Two months in and they still started to show aggressive amounts of corrosion between the leafs and I have countered that with Corrosion X. I live in FL, where rain, humidity and standing water is June through September; the stock springs never showed any amount of corrosion although I hit them with WD40 every six months.

We have sold a lot of HD's lately and not one single complaint from any customers, even with a bed with not a whole lot of weight. There is absolutely no difference between the SD +2 and +3 as far as material, just the amount of the arch is the only difference. The amount of load for each one is the same. If you are carrying around 300lbs or less, get the SD's.

The HD's have some thicker leafs but also the difference between a +2 and +3 on an HD is the same material grading all the way through, its just the amount of the arch. We recommend the HD's if you plan on carrying more than 300lbs on a constant basis. For folks who want to go beyond 500lbs, we can get them custom made to accommodate that (up to a point). Custom orders typically take 4-6 weeks.

We usually keep stock of the SD and the HD's on the GEN2 since those are popular right now and have sold quite a bit this year. Currently during our sale this month, we ran out of stock and the SD's are going to take about 2 weeks before we get stock again, so please take advantage of our sale now to get a great deal and get on the list.

We highly recommend AMSOIL MPHD to coat the leafs, it will last a LOT longer than WD40. Put on about 4 coats and moving forward you just need to touch them up when needed (usually once a year). Deaver used to offer a powdercoating option but have discontinued it. We can sell a set with extra center pins so you can take them apart and get them powdercoated yourself or however you want to protect them and put back together, then trim the bolts.

For what it’s worth, I’m running Geiser progressive springs up front and Deaver +3 SD out back. So I cannot speak to the ride quality of the HDs. However, being that I always have weight in the bed (37” spare, 2 ton jack, box of misc. emergency and recovery gear) I think I probably should’ve gone with the HDs. The truck rides basically level with that weight in the bed, but if I add anymore weight (especially to the tongue) I get a little Cali lean. I’d rather have a little more rake with a normal load and less sag with a heavier load. I’m not talking about a lot of weight either. Even three bicycles on a hitch mounted rack will cause sag for a road trip.

I have the +3 HD they are a bit more stiff but not noticeable.

However over the last 6 months they have sacked out pretty bad.

Carry around 275# of tools including the bed cover and right now I am sitting at 41.5” from found to fender lip on flat ground (with this load)

I had mine customer made with the following sticker. The spring rate is great but the height has failed a bit.

Anyone can decipher this code from Deaver?

V260HD

The name on the sticker is where you got them. If it has your name and custom, then you ordered direct. As for above, those came from RPG orders. Ours will say Freedom.

The V260HD is an old part number that Deaver was using for HD +3. Now its the L84HD.
You can see it on their website since they redid it recently.
For GEN2:
L83: +2 SD
L84: +3 SD
L83HD: +2 HD
L84HD: +3 HD

I've been considering these. It's tough for my application to decide on what to go with. Bed is empty 99% of the time however I tow a 7700lb travel trailer around during the summer. I hate to hate the ride while I'm not towing. Maybe there's an alternative solution? I'm wondering if the +2HD (which states 0 lift with 500lbs in the box) will lift the truck with 0 lbs in the box?
