Looked at mine and it's brutal. WTF kind of process is producing such a rough/jagged finished part.

yea sorry haha I would have never noticed or looked if there was that plastic wrap hanging from my shocks... but with everyone else having the same "build" I do feel a lot better lol. Thought I had a lemon or they pulled a fast one on me with a "broken" one.

still love it just hope it last a long time

My guess is that the parts were made incorrectly, maybe a bad spec, maybe supplier error. Then some clever manufacturing engineer figured out a hand process where the parts could be modified and used so as to keep the line running.

This would make sense if it affected a partial build year, but this spans three full years of production. I think there are people that care because this is not a backyard desert runner build. These are production trucks. Aesthetically, that part is not at a production or assembly line standard. I don't care enough about the jagged lines to make any beef to Ford, but it does kinda make you go 'hmmmm".

Well, Ford could always charge a couple hundred more for a pretty part. In this location, I’ll take an unfinished part that works fine.

Drive it get it dirty and don’t worry about the coil over buckets that you don’t see from behind the wheel. Once you get some rash on your rear fenders from throwing some dirt you’ll care more about that anyways!

I love my 2020 Gen 2 Raptor. But I can also see and read from numerous examples that the new Raptors have changed in many ways, many of them not for better. There were many features and options that have either been changed or deleted - many of them changed the truck from what it was, and deleted features that made it stand out above the other models of F 150s. I also realize that many of these things are beyond Fords control. But that does not excuse many of the issues that some new trucks are experiencing. The Raptor is still an excellent Vehicle that we are privileged to be able to afford and own. It’s that very “love of Raptors” that is allowing Ford to keep cutting features while raising prices. As long as people are willing to pay ever escalating prices, while waiting for what sometimes feels like a forever wait, Ford and any manufacturers are and will continue to reduce content while raising prices. Why wouldn’t they? They are a large corporation that has responsibilities to its stock holders. And we as owners and buyers of Raptors also have the responsibility to hold Ford to task for some of their short comings. So, when one of us raises a concern about the fact that there are parts on the new Raptors that don’t measure up to what an expensive production vehicle should be built like, the rest of us shouldn’t be such fan boys that we belittle the person raising these concerns, and give Ford a pass.

Like I said, I love my Raptor, and have been buying Fords since the ‘60s. But I’m also not blind, and I vote with my wallet. I’m just very glad that my 2020 Raptor was built in September 2020. I still have all the things a Raptor (at least to me) should have, and yet was built during a period that Ford Quality still was job One. I’ve had zero issues, my dealer treats me well and informs me of concerns, and I am a happy boy! I’m also not selling my 2020!
