Good evening FRF members. I just wanted to share some information that I learned recently that may be of use to those in need of cam phaser replacement.
For context, my ‘19 is at the dealership for a SECOND cam phaser replacement. First cam phasers were replaced approximately 2-3 years ago around ~23k miles. Now at ~58k miles and 2 weeks before my powertrain warranty expires, the rattle came back.
I was doing some research on second time cam phaser failure and saw on the F150 forums that some folks had their phasers replaced under “emission warranty” which goes up to 7/70k for California and 8/80k for federal. Sure enough, speaking with the Ford tech today, he confirmed that cam phasers can be replaced under “emission warranty” at least for CALIFORNIA (due to CARB).
If you’re out of powertrain warranty and need cam phasers replaced, check your state’s Ford emission warranty to see if cam phasers are included.
