Was installing this setup a few minutes ago and put the phone up to test angle of fit…iPhone has some magnetism to it so it felt like it would hold to check it out. Wrong. Phone slipped off and I tried to grab it, which I did, but against the info screen. Dinged it good. Seems like there’s some sort of protective coating on the screen and it put a hole in that.
That OCD tendency of mine will have trouble getting used to it. Thinking of taking that protective coating off completely…not sure if it will come clean or if glass is also damaged. Alternatively, considering replacing the screen altogether. Anyone know if screen is part of a bigger unit and can’t be replaced individually? And of course, how long will it take to get THAT part? Would appreciate y’all’s input and advice. Thanks much.

Fiirst thing I would do is to make very certain the screen is still fully functional. If it is, no replacement is really necessary. You then just need to find the best way to cosmetically neutralize the "bruise."

Good luck!

Look like it chipped the glass, which would require replacement of the screen.

If no loss of functionality, you could try a dab of this:
Weldon #4 with Applicator Bottle - 1/4 Pint - 4oz - 10308 - 1 each https://a.co/d/1ooPfQd

Then cover it with one of these:
KYKR Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector Compatible with 2021 2022 SYNC4 12 Inch Ford F150 F-150 - Anti Glare Scratch Fingerprint Navigation Protection - Clear Gloss https://a.co/d/dajDe6U

I put a screen protector on mine the second the “to be removed by consumer” film was peeled off. Murphy and all….

I’ve also heard of people using Vaseline or a similar thick petroleum type jelly to fill small cracks and chips in phone screens before being covered by tempered glass protector. Not sure how it would hold up under high temps, though. Maybe a clear high-temp RTV?

Can anyone direct me to OEM replacement for screen (or is it the whole head unit?). I’ve looked but can’t find any such thing.

may have to go to the parts department at the dealer. they "should" have more info on if you can just get the screen. I wouldn't expect you'd be able to find it anywhere else yet. I may be wrong. I know that would be my first choice If I wasn't having luck online.

Yep, that’s what I was thinking too. Not sure that the 2021 screen is any different that 2021, maybe that will help. Thx for the input.
