My guess and it is pure speculation, is that it depends upon first year sales and acceptance. Less than 5000 in sales may move them to consider a V8. Of course if they were even thinking about a V8 we should through the grapevine hear something. I am reconsidering plans to buy a 2017, I would be very upset to see a 2018 with a V8 after buying a V6.

Yep, i agree. If they do build one for 2018 or within the Gen2 window, I think a lot of people would be upset.

I prefer checking the box for highest performance possible. So do most others which is why most F-150's are purchased with the 3.5 over the 5.0.

Cafe standards are going up which is why all manufacturers are letting go of thirsty V8's in the SUV, Truck and passenger car lines.
2025 standard is 54.5 mpg across line up.

Maybe the Roush Raptor (given there is one) will have a blown 5.0? I'm sure the SC would help the 5.0 with low RPM torque. Then again depending on the HP/TQ on the stock Raptor EB engine a blown 5.0 may not be enough to be considered a "ROUSH" vehicle...
