Has anyone every considered taking them off and getting it filled in with line x instead? What do you think would be the best way of going about to fill in the holes underneath the plastic first to keep it looking all flush with the truck?

i wouldnt personnally mess with it. too many holes to fill before coating it. and using that amount of body filler would leave it succeptable to cracks and breaking. you could fiberglass the whole top portion, but too much prep work.

What about getting some small plates welded in? Probably to much of a pain to even try and get smoothed out after eh.

welding is going to ruin the paint. the extreme heat will damage the paint around the area and cause it to bubble and flake eventually. i have seen where people have welded something and a few months later and 6 inches away the paint was missing. i dont think it would happen all the time, but it is a situation that could possibly occur, and has in the past.

Ha! The truck isn't a street queen, it's taken it's share of offroad beatings. I still like to add my own touches is all.

Good enough point. I just hate when the plastic starts to become lose/lift up in areas. Hasn't started yet on this truck but expecting it too like others i've owned.

if its anything like my rangers plastic things, you wont have anything to worry about. My trucks an 06, and has been abused so damn much. the plastic things still look brand new, and are no where near loose.

temps of -58 F up to temps of 113 F last summer was our high. so, whatever adhesive they use to stick em on, it holds through it all.

Yeah, hope they last. Seen a picture around on here before of them removed, looks like they are just clipped in, no adhesive. Just was curiously thinking of removing them, filling in the holes somehow and extending the line x when I do the box overtop the sides, ah well though.
