Do you need to troll every Gen 2 with your garbage? You’re a know nothing hack, stop spreading misinformation. Gen 2 3.5 isn’t a cyclone, it was a clean sheet design for 2017. There is nothing weak about the design; hence why it’s used in the 640HP GT. The only reason the upper end of the 2.7 is CGI is due to it’s relative output compared to its physical size. Hence the name “Nano” for that engine family. The 400HP 3.0 Nano is all aluminum, so once again your nonsense is debunked.
Wrong. It's simply a descendent of the SHO engine. It was updated, but it's still a Cyclone engine at it's heart. Same bore spacing, same head design. You can tweak things and call it "all new" but it's not. Plenty of guys got 640 crank from SHO engines- that level of HP is not a big deal.

You are right about one thing though, the 2.7L was indeed all new. However, the 3.5L raptor engine is far from it. They played with the casting design, went with a better (shorter) timing chain setup, tried to fixed the phasers (still working on that!) and added port injection- but it's still a 3.5L Cyclone engine to this day, despite what you want to believe.

And BTW - I'm not trolling anything. I have interest in this thread because I predicted Ford would ditch the plastic oil pan and go back to aluminum when the problem first stated occurring and the first big thread was going on about it. Guess what, I was right.

Wrong. The engine was completely new for 2017. It is not related to nor a “descendent” of the Gen 1 EB. The bore spacing remained the same because they’re built on the same assembly line, that is not uncommon at all. The phasers have not had an issue since 2019, but keep believing that in your own little mind.

You’re a know nothing Gen 1 clown who likes to derail Gen 2 threads with false information, speculation, and lies. You have no data to back up any of your claims. Go back to your Gen 1 forum and talk about your “long in the tooth” 6.2’s dropping valve springs. It’s pathetic that you need to justify your old and outdated truck by putting down the newer model; get a life.

Edit: Nobody cares about your claimed predictions. Composite oil pans are still used in Nano and Coyote applications; they didn’t “ditch” them. So you’re still wrong. Stop spreading misinformation to make yourself feel better about the boat anchor in your truck.

I did not replace transmission lines or modify the harness routing, I saw no need to. What I saw on my truck differed from some directions. I did have to pull the tranny lines out of the way with a ratchet strap to get them installed, but they fit fine after the pan was in. As for the harness, all mounts fit on the new pan, all I had to do was flatten a tab on one ground.

Also, the plastic pan seemed to be stuck quite well and was hard to get off. The block stiffener was VERY hard to get off. I was hoping to spot the location of the leak, but everything was so oily, I really couldn't tell.
Interesting; so it could have been leaking from either. Glad it worked out well without needing to modify the trans cooler lines or harness.

I have one of the first Gen 2.7s- it's fine. It doesn't make any weird ticking noises or rattles, and it doesn't leak at all. I don't love it necessarily, but I don't think it's going to be problematic in any way either.

I don't know a damn thing about Land Rover engines and don't care to.
My phasers have been loud on startup for 4 years now. Im on the fence on doing the recall. I doubt it will help and Im afraid it will cause more problems.

do you know why they recommended changing the harness and lines?
It’s to make the repair more robust; every time a part design changes, the system needs to be re-evaluated by engineering. So even though yours seems fine, it may not meet OE requirements for the routing of the lines, harness, etc. Not to say you’ll have any issues, but that’s the reason for the changes.

If they’re noisy on startup they’ll need to be replaced. The dealer will first need to perform the 21B10 and then they can perform the TSB to install the new parts.

I am out of warranty (80k miles)

They have been noisy pretty much since new.

I'm on my second oil pan.

Then I got another warranty - premium.

The First one was done under FORD factory warranty. So I feel comfortable at night knowing I have another warranty.

If it takes more than three times to fix. It could be a lemon law buyback situation. ?
A Gen3 may be in your future...
Better off to just sell it in this economy. Lemon law will bend you over. I is bought the metal pan from RBM but mine hasn’t leaked in 30k. I had 3 pans put on before this last one. If anyone wants to buy the metal pan kit I’ll sell it. I’ve never even open the box.
