plastic inserts in the intake piping

Hi everyone.

I have seen a lot of companies installing their intake systems on youtube. with that being said I do not want to install an intake system on my truck just yet. I put a slip in K&N filter into the stock box but was wondering about those inserts that are located in the piping. I think they are there to reduce sound. I would love to know if anyone has just removed these. I think I will do that this weekend. please let me know.

My Roush intake instructions specifically say to keep them in.

Remove them, they are there to reduce NVH (Noise, Vibration & Harshness)

For anyone having the laminar and turbulent flow argument, they don’t have enough length and their angle in the flow stream is higher than what is required to “reduce” turbulence

Remove them. Ford Engineers don't know what they're doing and have access to very poor testing equipment compared to FRF members.

Several members have had misfire check engine lights when installing an aftermarket intake and removing the inserts. I did as well. I put them back in and haven't had any problems since.

I removed them when I installed my CAI and haven't had any issues. Sound increase is minimal.
