Long story short, just picked up a 2020 Raptor, loaded for $5k off MSRP. Traded my 2017 with 45,000 miles and they gave me $46k for it.

Even the finance guy was surprised when he saw the numbers. He also let me know it was a slower month than they anticipated and I happened to go in yesterday evening.

is this a typical deal on a brand new raptor? I could understand doing this with a 2019 to make room for 2020... Or did I catch this dealership in desperation mode where they were trying to squeeze out every last sale at the end of a slower than anticipated month?

Unrelated to your question... are the gains that much better from 17-18 to 2020?

Usually a good price is 7% under MSRP. Not sure what 5k in your case amounts to, but you can do the math.

Congrats on new Raptor!

for me, going from black to white + the live valve suspension was worth the upgrade. Truck seems more refined. Might be in my head because my truck had some serious miles on it, though.

$5K off is a decent deal which is pretty close to invoice, but not like you are bending the dealer over a barrel or anything. They make A LOT of these trucks now it isn't 2017 with ADMs all day anymore.

They are likely going to make more off of your trade in than the new truck as well which is why they were happy to get you into a 2020.

I just bought a 2019 for an 8.5% discount off of MSRP which was $6K off a $71K MSRP. Had I been able to find $5K off a 2020 I would have opted for a 2020 as you essentially got very close to my same deal on a 2019. Is what it is, I am happy with my purchase so far.... best of luck !

45k miles is nowhere near “serious miles”.

My 2010 F-150 is at 265k miles and still feels the same as it did when new.
