Ok...ok we all know Airaid is the best.... Value, performance, blah blah.

Consider this new intake(or Atleast I think its new). It has a huge diameter intake tube, its metal(metal gets hot), and the filter is NOT covered.

If anybody gives it a try, it is $379 and I think it needs a write-up.

A large diameter intake tube means that for any given the volume of air movement, the air in the tube is moving slower. This increases the possibility that the air in the tube may stall during deceleration, and that means that when more throttle is called for there will be a bigger lag between the trottle input and the intended result.

Another problem is that the airflow sensor lives in that tube. Slower moving air will be sensed as less air movement, and a lean fuel mixture may result. This, of course, drives engine temps up, reduces the longevity of the engine, and will likely throw codes.

Yep... Thats what I was trying to get across.. These guys DONT know what they are doing. It seems that the intake tube is much too large. I am on my phone so its kind of hard to give a good write up. The Airaid is best in my opinion, but that doesn't mean someone wont try the pipeline. If they made a cover, changed the tubing and did dyno research, it would be a competitor against the other intake systems. It just seems like a bit of a trap. There is no comprehensive information on it whatsoever. I doubt they even ran it on a dyno or researched the stock airflow.

I read your post about exceeding the knowledge of the tech at airaid. Call up these guys and see, Lol.

Evidently they don't want to photograph the whole thing because it would show that the air filter draws hot air from the engine compartment. Hell, anybody can put a filter on the end of a hose. Spectre Performance will sell you all the parts you need and it'll probably work better than this thing.

Agreed. Poor design not to have a box to isolate the CAI like Airaid and the other approved versions do.

Like you said, anyone can attach a filter to a tube and call it a CAI.

Yup, ain't nothin' like an Air Intake System for adding a few HP, causing concerns with debris, water and warranty while costing bucks to buy and install.

Funny, my AFE has had no problems with debris, water and/or warranty. By all means though, please continue...
