Oil Temperature

Hi All. Would this be considered within a normal range? I have just under 6k miles, 2020. This was taken after 1/2 hour in stop and go traffic with outside temperature at 67 degrees. Also, picture taken just after turning the engine off. Feedback appreciated

Yes...that’s normal. I see temps of 203-210 degrees under all driving conditions.

Very typical in most vehicles and ours to see oil temp close to engine temps in all conditions.

Yes 19-20 802a’s provide multiple digital gauges and a page worth of vital engine readings, etc.

As for ultimate power potential, the general consensus among most racers is that hot oil and cool water make more power in most engines. Cold engine oil causes excessive frictional drag on the bearings and cylinder walls. A quality conventional motor oil will tolerate oil sump temperatures of up to 250 degrees, but starts breaking down over 275 degrees. The traditional approach is to try to hold oil temperatures between 230 and 260 degrees. Even on a short-duration, drag-only combo where oil is frequently changed, I would not want to routinely see under-200-degree oil temps.

On highway mine is between 225 and 235 in hot Florida weather. I opted for a full eater based synthetic which holds up much better

yes...a turbo 4 or turbo 6 should hit 230 when pushing it hard........240-250 at the track

I know a lot of guys here in LA use wetter water.
