What’s up, guys? I finally got the go ahead from my wife to buy a Raptor R. I currently have a TRX, which I’m keeping. She thinks it’s ridiculous for me to have two 700+ hp trucks. She doesn’t find the impending death of the V8 as traumatic as I do. When I was first kicking around the idea I said I won’t pay over sticker. That lasted for about ten minutes. I can’t believe how many dealers are at $40-50k ADM! The biggest problem is that I only want black. I wrap all my vehicles, so black is the best canvas to work with. Don’t have to mess with door jams, etc. Here in Minnesota, they salt the crap out of the roads in winter, so wrapping the vehicles is the best way to avoid the effects.

Well, after talking to dealerships in Florida, Texas, Vegas, Colorado and Michigan, I was losing hope and had a feeling I was going to be paying at least $30k ADM to get anything, regardless of color. I found a dealership about a two-hour drive from me with a shelter green one that wasn’t sold yet. They also were asking “only” $20k ADM. It’s crazy how that suddenly seemed to be a good deal. The salesman said for a local resident they’d do $15k ADM. I started kicking the idea around about just doing a full stealth PPF wrap over the green and was warming to the idea. This was Saturday. I told him I’d call back Monday. If it was gone, then it wasn’t meant to be. He called me back about 20 minutes later, and I thought for sure he was calling to tell me it was sold. I was wrong. He talked to his GM after we got off the phone, and his manager said they had ordered a black k one and it was just scheduled for production. I immediately put the deposit down and now I have to try to be patient. It’s “scheduled” for production this week, but I don’t put any stock into that until I see it marked as built.

Anyway, I’m excited to join the Raptor ranks. I was a fan from day 1, but then when they switched to a V6 for Gen 2, I couldn’t bring myself to do it. Don’t, however, expect me to join everyone talking smack about the TRX, because I honestly LOVE that truck! It will be interesting to compare the two, and not just on a closed drag strip or off-road course, but actual daily driving. I’ll be sharing my thoughts when the time comes! Now, to pick a color for the wrap….

Edit: Holy crap! Sorry that turned into a damn novel!

TRX sucks ****
Easy, now! ;) Remember, regardless of what you think of the TRX, everyone ordering a Raptor R should LOVE that truck, because it is the ONLY thing that forced Ford to put their big boy pants on and build the R. With no TRX, there would have never been a Raptor R.

I personally think the TRX is an ugly truck. The "mustache" grille is horrendous. The kicker? Nobody makes an aftermarket grille for it. Only inserts that actually accentuate the mustache rather than hide it. I tried hard to hide it with my wrap job, but it's still there. Any TRX owner who looks at the Raptor and TRX side by side and says the TRX looks better is either lying to you or lying to themselves!

I am confused why anyone cares about your TRX on a Raptor R ordering forum....

Just got off the phone with the dealer, they noticed in vin view mine is apparently on a transport and moving, in the Toledo/ OH area .

So might hit the dealer tonight or tomorrow depending how many stops along the way.

In production 3/4
Blend 3/9
Marked built 3/11 on the ford tracker
* with a spray in bedliner
For those wondering.

Does Ford tracker show shipped? Historically, mine seem to hit dealer lot before marked shipped by Ford. Just curious.

It did not around noon, still said “built”.

Just checked now (3hrs later) and it’s checked on “shipped” and “final prep 3/20”. So I’m guessing it showed up at the dealer…
