Always loved the Gen 1 but didn't get into the Raptor world until a 2017 Gen 2. Love the 2, minimal mods. Jump to this year, got rid of a plow truck we had for our 500 ft driveway and bought a side by side with a plow and put a snow blower on a tractor so we are set for the northern IN winters. Wife said go for a Gen 1 for a daily driver and new toy to play with (she has a Grand Cherokee for a winter driver and a Jeep JL). Found a Race Red with OK mileage of 140K locally at a Ford dealer. Worked out the details, they replaced the front shocks, ball joints, lower control arms, all plugs and coils. Still able to get a Ford warranty so thought why not on this high of mileage. She isn't perfect, already have a shop ready to replace the rockers since they paint is popping and I don't have a spray booth in the shop. Interior is clean and non smoker truck so all is good. I love the 6.2, had the same motor in my 2012 HD F150.image0.jpegimage2.jpegimage1.jpeg

Thank you everyone...now for the rest of the story.

Had it home for a week and hadn't driven it much. Threw a code misfire on 8..put it new plugs on 8 (to be sure 1 wasn't bad on the new ones) and swapped the coil to different cylinder, cleared code, same thing on 8. Checked everything again and noticed water was low. Did a fill up of water and antifreeze and just for giggles did a test on the coolant...went yellow for gases so took it in to the dealer confirm. They confirmed head gasket leaking..went over the purchase date and warranty and Ford approved new heads, cam phasers, oil cooler, transfer case motor and switch (it was slow to engage they said) and I split the cost for the power steering pump, water pump and new belt while they had it apart, labor was already included on the initial repair and they said if the pumps went out Ford would cover those also but I don't like to wait for something to break and leave me or the wife out somewhere if I know they are a weak spot. The only thing was it took 9 weeks for the repairs to get finished...cam phasers were on a national B/O. Now all is right in Raptorville.

I will say, I think Ford did me right and I have been a Ford fan since I bought my first truck when I was 16 now 60. My service writer was pushing a new long block and he knew it would be stretch if no blowup of anything else but that's OK. I still have 20 months of warranty left so we are using this as a daily driver to make sure if anything else is on the edge it comes out soon. We rotate vehicles quite a bit, our 17 only has 24K on it.
