New truck scratches...

New here, forum has already been a wealth of knowledge. Picked up a 23 azure grey last week. First Raptor and love it so far. Wasn't my first color choice, but it was on the lot, and the deal was where i needed to be.

I have noticed, more and more under different lighting, all the scratches/scuffs on roof corners, bed side and hood, from what appears to be a somewhat abrasive shipping cover or something? Micro scuffs on all the sharp corners on the entire truck. It's nothing a few hours of paint correction won't take care of, but I am a bit pissed an 85k dollar truck will need so much correction just from shipping.

Anyone else seeing this? Dark color owners? Would hardly be noticeable at all unless under led lighting on white/silver/avalanche colors.

This is something I am also not looking forward to as I await delivery of my avalanche truck in a few weeks as it is currently on a rail car. Having been built since 11/1/22, there's no telling what in the world I'm going to have to deal with.

standard on most any car..... show the dealer, they can correct in body shop under warranty.....or pay your guys to do it to your standard.

I agree, it sucks....but expected when delivery takes a porter from factory to rail yard. Rail car trip, and a truck trip from rail yard to dealer. so many places where lazy under paid scrubs have a chance to screw up your car.

wish we could do factory delivery like you can on Porsche or corvette.

The same happens on vehicles that are double in price.
If you want paint correction pay a professional to do it right. It wont be cheap.
Im sure Ford feels there's no benefit to hiring people to spend hours on each truck perfecting paint jobs.

Of the last three new cars I bought all needed a ton of correction. Audi was actually near the worst, and the orange peel really bothered me.

It is what it is. Talk to any detailer and they can tell you some stories. Just be glad there wasn’t body work or repairs done at the factory.

My truck arrived with bed stickers scratched, scratches under the bed stickers, scratched fender flare, scratched bed paint. Truck had to go right to the body shop to be fixed, fender flare replaced, and have new stickers applied (one sticker was even peeling off).

Our audi SQ7 was damn near flawless. I just did a light buff/polish and straight to ceramic coat.

FWIW, I would recommend any one reading this to go to a class or learn how to correct, ceramic coat yourself. I did, and have saved thousands doing it myself. After the first vehicle you do, it really only cost you time doing it yourself.
Prices around here are insane for paint correction/ceramic coat, easily $1500 plus.
I learned how to do it several years ago, probably have 6-700 in buffers, pads are fairly cheap, and a good ceramic coat is usually around $200 for a vehicle the size of a truck.

I will probably have 6 hours or so in correcting this truck. Will be a good 8-10 beer job on a warm day.
