Message: <blockquote data-quote="Ruger" data-source="post: 1119258" data-attributes="member: 1594">[MENTION=22102]Monan[/MENTION], here's a couple good Raptor maintenance hints:- You're going to need a bigger oil drain pan.  The 7 quarts in the Raptor's crankcase will make a hell of a mess on your garage floor if you use the standard size 6 quart drain pan.- When you change your oil, pull the crankcase drain plug and allow it to drain.  Replace the crankcase plug finger tight, and then pull the filter and allow it to drain.  Here's the trick: Go back to the crankcase drain plug and pull it again.  You'll get another 5 to7 ounces of dirty oil out.  You don't want to adulterate your new oil with residual dirty oil.- All fluids age and there's no filter in the power steering system.  A number of posters here have lost the PS pumps, so it is evident that this system requires maintenance too.  At every oil change pull the driver side hose out of the bottom of the PS reservoir and drain it.  Replace the hose and refill the reservoir with fresh transmission fluid.  Be sure to check your owners manual so you buy the right kind/grade of transmission fluid for your PS system.  Doing this at every oil change will all but assure that your PS system is trouble free.</blockquote>
