So another words saying, they didn't think this through at all during development
You could also say Ford didn't think their system through during developjment. Kind of like how a bunch of stuff stuff doesn't work without the tailgate installed.

This is not the first "extra rear light thing that plugs into the trailer harness for its signals and power source" to exist.

If the Ford trucks are so friggin smart- they should easily be able to tell if there is no trailer but instead just a light device plugged in.

I wouldn't think Ford would really care too much about whether or not aftermarket accessories they have nothing to do with will work with their new design. There are exceptions of course. I bet Ford decided to keep the bed size the same so that bed covers from the previous Gen work with the new Gen...but that has a larger market, might make customers unhappy, and effect Ford's own aftermarket products.

Ford doesn't design for your aftermarket "wants". Does it work when you attach a trailer to it? Thats what it was designed to do.

Some users have experienced trailer detection according to our customer service team.

Currently, there is a Ford-specific trailer harness coming down the pipeline from our engineering team to resolve this!

Please let us know when and I will be first in line to purchase one for my 23. :)
