Hi all,

I've never really been a "truck guy" before... I've always had sports cars, but I've been living the North Georgia Mountains for the last 10 years and we recently bought some land that became available adjacent to a USFS National Forest (My new back yard is literally thousands of square miles now)... fella died, old "squatters land", and I was just blessed enough to be in the right place at the right time and got the first bid in to the seller's widow.

I'm currently driving a 2009 Porsche 911 that's gotta go... I literally need a 4WD vehicle to access this property... but not just 4WD (my wif'es Infiniti QX56 has that), but 4WD with some ground clearance as i need to climb small 8-10" rocks and cross a river 3 times that could be 12-24" deep at any given point in the year!

I read that the Raptor has a wheel travel of 1ft in either direction... its got the clearance, and the HP/Style is just a bonus!

Yeah... I think I could be a "truck guy".

-------------

I've heard its a buyer's market right now... the sticker price on the 2011 Raptor I'm looking at is $49,050... any idea what I can expect from the dealership in terms of THEIR asking price? I'm supposed to go look at the vehicle next week.

I really like the idea of the truck over the Jeep Rubicon I was looking at too as the truck has more room to bring gear to the "camp site".

-------------

As for me... 45 years old, and a dentist, 2 kid (4 and 7)... camping is a passion of ours...

Nice to meet y'all.

Mark

Hey Mark, I'm in Atlanta. If your truck is 49, try get around 45 or so... I have a '10 Blue Flame that was priced at 49,999 and I negotiated them down to 45,000 plus ttt.

Where are you purchasing from?

When you get that car we need to go wheel up in North Georgia. Where about is your property?

I'm looking at Gwinnette Ford (on Cobb Pkway I think)...

Our property is in the Cohutta National Forest... 75N to 575N, 575 turns into 515 once you hit Jasper.. then into Blue Ridge. Right on Hwy 5, then left on old Hwy 2. When the asphalt stops and the gravel road begins, you're in forestry land.

Our property... basically, go to the boonies then hang a right. :)

Awesome!
One mod I would look into would be extending the differential breathers. If your ever in standing water over the middle of the wheel you really should check the diff fluid. That goes for any vehicle...

Either way, welcome aboard and good luck finding what you want! I hear there is a hold on the 6.2L and red/black vehicles due to shortages from Japan. Atlanta is surely a buyers market no matter what so hopefully you won't have too much of a problem finding what you want and at a decent price. Do a smell a southeast Raptor Roundup? :naughty:

Ok good, don't look at Sandy Springs Ford. They are price crazy and tell some crazy ******** lies. They told me that there are only 2000 raptors in the whole Country and that paying less than 47,000 is unheard of and they can't match prices...

Wade ford is a good one, I really recommend them.. Not sure if they have any Raptors in. What color??

Ya that would be the boonies. I'm sure it's pretty cool up there. Maybe you could design a snorkel....
