So iv been lurking for a while and am about ready to pull the trigger on a Raptor. Iv found a dealer that has about every option I could want. I'm looking to get opinions on what I should get. I am currently looking at. 2012 velociraptor with 30 +\- miles. Iv read all the complaints and problems with Henessey but for the price and condition of the truck this is tempting. I'm also looking at a 14 limited with 4K miles and a hellion twin turbo kit, then of course they have a stock model in the last 3 year models with varying mileage all in great shape. My problem is if I buy a stock truck I am going to install a power adder (probably turbos), this dealer gives a lifetime warranty on engines (the turbos, supercharger on the two trucks mentioned above are not covered but the engines are) and I know first hand they stand behind their warranty and will cover the engines on the turbo and supercharged trucks should I have an engine failure. If I buy a stock truck and have the turbos/ charger installed later they will not warranty the engine. None of the trucks have any suspension mods etc just the above mentions power adders. Normally this would be a no brainier for me and I would jump on the one with the Hellion kit and never look back. Problem is it is the only one I'm looking at that is not "priced rite". Buying this one would put me out at least a year on the other mods I would like to do. They are practically giving away the velociraptor but search Hennessy and you can see why I'm hesitant on jumping on it. Then buying a stock truck (for the price I can snatch one) will leave pleanty of coin in my pocket to start modding but no lifetime engine warranty once I do a power adder. Guess I'm just looking for opinions, ideas, problems, concerns anything I may be overlooking before pulling the trigger. Sorry for the ridiculously long post, just overly excited about getting one of these trucks and trying to explore every avenue I can to make the best purchase.

here, on frf
morning..........

type of truck depends on your driving habits. street? get the turbo. offroad? i say get the stock one. many people have been very happy with a tune from several vendors on the right. then add some frame protection, lights, bumpers, etc. make it yours.

Kind of my thoughts. It will see off road a couple times a year. A lot more than that if you include the occasional romp around on our lease roads after a good rain. But I will be putting about 2- 3K street miles a month on the truck. I have a list of mods I was planning on doing from reading through the posts on this forum the last couple months. The turbo'd truck makes the most since in my head but having to wait to do the mods (as I would have to spend most of the money I have saved for the mods on the down payment) would be hard to do lol.

Hello! Personally I wouldn't touch the Hennessey. I'm not sure about the turbo companies but Roush offers a warranty for a price if installed by an authorized installer. I believe whipple has a warranty option as well but don't quote me on that one.

Welcome and good luck with your search. I would go stock and then set it up how you want it. To me doing the mods myself is 75% of the fun. It's much more satisfying when you build the truck yourself as opposed to buying someone else's vision of how the truck should be. JMHO.

Normally I would agree 100%... BUT a lifetime engine warranty with a twin turbo set up... Man I would have hard time walking from that.
