When I lived up north I had a neighbor who sprayed the underside of his Falcon every year. He used mixture of used motor oil and STP. He claimed the STP help keep the oil in place. I always knew when he did it because he would have paper all around the car to catch the droppings. I must admit it has no rust whatsoever.

If you're serious about wanting to try a coating use Car Pro's Cquartz line. Ceramic Pro coatings are made super cheap and are still having tons of problems and the hassle to remove a coating isn't worth it. Trust me. Huge pain in the ass.

I know about Cquartz and later found out you can apply it the same way in an paint sprayer. I do love CarPro Delux for plastic, thinking about trying CarPro Perl.

Trying to decide if i wanna try and coat my whole raptor myself or have it done by someone who can do Cquartz Finest. Heard the new version is alot easier to apply though and flashes alot faster.

Thats good to know about Ceramic Pro. Modesta seems to be very good also but i heard you have to wetsand to get it off, and it costs alot.

Actually, you cannot apply a Cquartz coating with a sprayer. I have heard of someone trying to coat a car with a coating with a paint sprayer but I think they used an Opti Coat product. With the coatings you are taking just a few drops to a small very low pile microfiber towel wrapped around a foam applicator and you're doing at least a half of a panel with just a few drops. I don't think we're talking about the same product. Cquartz, Cquartz UK and Cquartz Finest come in tiny bottles that are just a few ounces. I'll explain the differences.

Cquartz is the version you would use for normal outside temps around 50 degrees plus. Excellent durability and the coating will last for years but you don't have as much depth and shine like a regular wax. The regular version of Cquartz is also very forgiving and gives you plenty of time to buff off the excess product before it hardens.

Cquartz UK is the version you need to be using if you're applying the coating in cold temps as the product will flash extremely quick. UK is also rumored by the detailing world to be the most durable of all of the Cquartz coatings mainly because of the chemical makeup of the coating that allows it to cure so quickly. A Cquartz finest installer will never tell you this though as they always want to sell you on the finest install instead that is much more expensive. Just for reference too, some of the finest installers will coat the car with UK and then actually coat the car again with Finest over the base layer of UK.

Cquartz Finest is supposedly the best of all of the coatings on the market but in all honesty with Finest you're getting your entire vehicle completely corrected. That is what they sell you on with Finest. The car gets completely corrected and then coated in Finest. In my personal opinion, Finest does give you a bit more depth and warmth to the paint but I honestly don't think its anymore durable than regular Cquartz. It definitely gives the paint more of that freshly waxed look but if you just use Cquartz UK and then use Reload over the top of it you'll be set. I've been detailing for a number of years and have done a little over 20 Coatings. 3 Cquartz UK installs and the rest have been the regular Cquartz coating as I am not a Finest installer.

Lots of coatings on the market and they are very easy to do as long as you know what you're doing. If you don't you can really screw some stuff up and the coatings have to be removed with a very heavy compound so you want to do it right the first time. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up and I'll point you in the right direction if you want to give some a try!

And definitely give Car Pro's Perl a try! I use it on tires at a 1:1 ratio and the stuff looks amazing. No sling, water based and it gives it a very nice matte look at a 1:1 ratio. Excellent stuff.

Maybe ill do the UK Version then, I have a F350 work truck maybe ill try it out on that and see how it goes.

Whats your thoughts on using CarPro Essence to prep for Cquartz?

Thanks for the info on each different product.

Essence is great for a primer to then later add Cquartz over. Essence is actually a really nice polish with great working time and you can get incredible correction with essence alone with a microfiber pad and you can layer Cquartz right over it. The only thing I would caution would be to make sure that you remove all of your swirl marks, scratches or contamination in the paint fully before adding the coating. Essence won't replace a compound and some paints are hard enough that even minor correction requires something much more aggressive than Essence but if you don't want the paint absolutely perfect and can live with some imperfections you can't go wrong with using Essence and then coating over the top of it.

These are what mine look like after 3 northeast winters. I have been spraying them with anti corrosive and still they go to sheet. On a side note Fox is willing to do nothing for you. They were not interested in getting a new sticker kit out to me. They were like these are a very expensive sticker kit I'll send you a email with a link to some cheaper stickers. Never did send it to me. Think I'm going to sand them down and paint them. Then I'll slap on some Rancho stickers on them !!!!

Good god, that just shows you the mentality of the cost cutting. Hence the reason they corroded to hell.
