BUNMAN-Adventures, Rescue & Recovery
The Deep Azzzz UT Sugar Sand won this time We got a little bit of a late start to the days Adventures, which meant that the sand had a chance to dry out providing Zero Bite..
It didn’t help that we were trying to climb up 1500-2K feet.
It was close to 100 degrees, the wife and vicious hounds were along on this Adventure, so Discretion won over Valor. We lived to fight another day w/o giving anyone Heat Stroke or Burning up the Raptor. On the face of the Mountain, as expected, the sand became deep and soft after breaking through the crust. The “Trail” was a ”Tight Pin Striping Single Track” lots of Switchbacks sapping your energy and momentum.
I am confident I could have made it but the cost to Benifit ratio sucked. Add in a $500-1k tow, We are flying Solo without having seen anyone else on the trail that could have helped.
Hence the decision to turn around on the one spot that provided the opportunity before going any higher. I walked up the trail further and it only got worse
As you can see from the pictures, a nice afternoon Storm was also moving in on us, no time for…Hold My Beer, Whilst I try this hill
Sand Wins….This Time…..at least I saved the Tow Money for some China Joe gas
So I got that going for me..
