I would love some thoughts on tires-not going 37s and need a tire that is going to be fairly quiet as my truck is my daily driver. I live in the Northeast and therefore deal with ice, snow, rain-you name it offroading will be soft sand and trails. the two tires that I keep coming back to are the duratracs and the Mickey Thompsons. There is more info and reviews for the Duratracs but the Mickey's are really interesting and the few reviews I have heard have all been positive-including KHCDAVE.

Both tires are light...Was a bit shocked to see the Duratracs are actually .1" smaller but wider than the stock bfgs. The Mickeys are wider and just a touch bigger than stock.

Tires are going on 17" Method NVs. Thanks

Kojack19,
The best sand tires, (and excellent in snow), in 40+ years of sand driving are the **** Cepek Fun Country tires. They are also quiet compared to more aggressive tread patterns and last 40,000 mile or more. I've had Nitto's, Grabbers, BFG's, Kelly's, Goodyears in the past....
Can't comment on the Duratecs or the ATZ's.

Try the mickytompsons I almost went that way but would have had to wait and I wanted a good snow tire now.

I have the Mickey Thompson's Baja ATZ's and LOVE them. I live in Montana so I probably see similar driving conditions as those in the NE. Plenty of snow traction, good in rain, and fairly quiet on the dry highway. I say fairly because they are big and an all terrain tire and not a mileage type tire. I hated the **** Cepek Fun Country tires because they picked up every rock they rolled over - half would get spit out at highway speeds and the other half only came out when I pried them out with a screwdriver. Anyway, I currently have 31,000 miles on the Mickey's and they still look good - maybe another 20,000 before I'll have to replace them.

It says that but they run small. Mine are 315 70 17. Unmounted they measured 34" exactly and mounted at 44 psi they measured 33.75"

Thanks for the report here. I have a gravel driveway with small rocks at the house I rent and I think I picked up about 100 stones rolling in and going back out yesterday. Do you think the Mickey Thompsons will not be as bad as the stockers with picking up rocks?

I am getting rid of my Goodyear mtr's and going with the Mickey Thompson ATZ's. Pretty much the same reasons. Mtr's are great offroad but suck on the road.
Only thing that has me stuck is 35's or 37's.
