As a newbie I understand that there was a change from plastic to metal oil pans in the 2018 model year - how far into the production year did the change occur?

Will Ford change out the plastic oil pan to a metal one if leaking under warranty?

I found an 18 and was just wondering.

I just went through this. I have an early production 2018 and it has the junk plastic pan. I guess cutover to the corrected metal pan was like March of 18. The dealer replaced mine with plastic and said they won't get me the metal pan. It is absolutely frustrating that they will just keep throwing plastic pans on mine. I guess the metal pan changeover is a bitch, so Ford isn't doing it for warranty.

Have you asked if you purchase the metal pan will they pick up the cost of installation or vice-versa?

I tried it all. They were not having any of it. My only option was to just pay out of pocket for it all.

I've yet to hear any dealer replacing a leaking plastic pan with the revised metal ones. From what I've read, there's quite a bit more involved than simply replacing the pan.

I've heard the same. I'm pretty sure it won't fit unless other parts are also replaced.

Guys check out RMB Motor Works on IG. They have a conversion kit with pan for $295.

My 18' is a late Feb 2018 build and has the metal pan...

Any prospective buyers are crazy to purchase a 2018 with a plastic pan. I believe 2018s with a prod date after 2/26 has a metal pan.
