Notice the unoriginal shape - it's based on the hideous shape of the Prius which the other companies (especially Honda) have copied for their "green" and hybrid cars. One ugly design begets others. At least the shape let's you know what's a hybrid/underpowered car.

Here's an interesting note from that story, "MBtech is the same company that has also helped Mahindra ready its compact diesel pickup trucks for sale in the U.S."

That shape is very fuctional. The Toyota Prius is ugly, but its the most aerodynamic car on the road today, more slippery than a Veyron Or Corvette.
