I’m a fan of the Volant Powercore intake, I had one on my diesel truck for 10+ years. My oil analysis proved it was working by showing lower silica levels than the stock air filter. That said, I’m not satisfied with their design for the Gen 2. It only uses one 6” filter. I think they should’ve used two like other CAI’s I’ve seen. I know it may not be strictly necessary, but I would welcome the extra airflow and capacity of a dual filter setup.
I have a Roush CAI as well.
Simply curious...what prefilter are you using?
I take my filter out every now and then and drop it to dislodge dirt and crap between filter changes.Stick with Motorcraft Air filters and check periodically.
The Owner’s Manual has additional information on scheduled maintenance when operating under dusty/sandy conditions. It states to inspect the air filter frequently and replace as required and change the engine oil every 5,000 miles or every 6 months.
Do you have a Gen 1 or Gen 2? Gen 1’s didn’t have cabin air filters, in which case would explain the dust ingress with the windows up.
