Sorry for stirring up the bee hive, I just expected more since I have heard more people excited about the new v6 than against it in person. I should have figured more purists would respond than helpful individuals on an internet forum.

What are common reoccurring problems people experience with current gens?
IWE, Power Steering, moonroof, defroster, empty wallets and bank accounts

Is the stock suspension good enough? (I would hope so for the price)
Yes it ran Baja and placed 3rd. Will you be doing that?

What is the biggest tire people run without rubbing, stock?
Can I fit 37's? This question has been asked a 14 million times and no one ever searches the 14 million existing threads on it

Biggest tires with an aftermarket bumper? Body mount chop needed?
Pinch welds need to be hammered and some trimming to fit 37's even with bumpers.

Now that you have been jumped in, try harder next time please.

My only question is why would you be concerned about current gen issues if you plan on purchasing a 2nd gen Raptor? They would be more relevant questions if you were looking for current used model.

It's pretty much trial by fire on this forum so brush it off and dish it out. Welcome aboard.

Just curious as to what kind of issues they have experienced. Could say something about a future model. You never know. I am someone who is excited about a new gen, and was looking to learn some things.

Well it only took three pages, and thank you for a semi full response. But, I would be happy with the stock tire size. It was just a simple question. I only run 35's as it is now.

Yes, I know it placed third which is why I asked the suspension question since it was puzzling to see so many people changing it out.

And thank you for the fun morning all.
:everything:

The truck is capable right off the showroom floor. 35" tires fit stock no problem or modifications necessary. Those of us modifying suspension etc are going for that space in between stock Raptor capabilities and luxury pre-runner capabilities. It really isn't necessary but it sure is a shit ton of fun.

That being said, I am hoping people can answer a few questions for me:

  1. What are common reoccurring problems people experience with current gens?
  2. Is the stock suspension good enough? (I would hope so for the price)
  3. What is the biggest tire people run without rubbing, stock?
  4. Biggest tires with an aftermarket bumper? Body mount chop needed?

Thanks in advance!

The search here sucks big time, plain and simple. I have no issue with you not wanting to use that worthless feature here.
1. Someone already answered this, those are common but depending how you drive it, it depends
2. Stock is good enough but most want more, the common upgrade is the shocks to 3.0's all the way to long travel and fully linked and everything in between. Again depends on how you want to use it.
3. 37' if you don't offroad. If you do you typically have to pound in the weld in the rear and replace your front fenders.
4. Don't think a bumper matters much when coming to bigger tires, fenders do.

I agree on MPG, could care less. And from someone that has already spent over $30k in all things added to my truck, yeah stock is okay but modding is so much better.

Good luck on your quest.

Welcome. Don't take it personal we all bust each others balls here. It keeps thing fun. Some people get upset when certain things are posted without being searched because there is a lot of topics that have been beaten to death. Good luck and hope to see you in a Raptor.

Agreed there... I will initially be trying to not spend $30k in mods again.... but I know I would eventually anyway.

Much thanks, yep. I get the mod bug as well and it never stops itching.

Cool, good to know the bumper clearance isn't an issue with the tires. my 35's rubbed my stock bumper in my FJ, and I cut the body mount, hammered it and re-welded it.

I would hate to replace an already good suspension, but I would like to do a 3" lift at some point.
