I'm looking at getting a new bumper.

Which coating will withstand road salt and have a longer life without rusting?

Will either coatings chip from stones and/or other debris?

my guess is line-x would hold up better. it just seems more durable. it doesnt really chip either. although i love my my powder coated bumper that i had color matched to the flares. if u go with powder coating make sure they use the correct process and dont half ass it. they should sand blast it and acid wash it then powder coat it. my bumper has held up fine thru 1 NY winter so far but i had mine done by a local guy who i know does excellent work

Another vote for line-x with UV protection. It will outlast the powdercoat.

Yup, Line-X. My rear wheelwells are coated with Line-X, and with a little over 50,000 miles on the truck there isn't a single chip. That's more severe service than a bumper will ever see. (Until the crash, of course.)

Powder coat can hold up OK for awile if you keep on top of it, spraying a lil matched paint on chips and scratches goes a long way to keep powder coat lasting awile. It will eventually need repowdered regardless.

Think of powdercoat like an eggshell. Its durable overall, but as soon as there's a crack, or chip, moisture can get in between the powdercoat and metal and will start deteriorating the materials.

Linex would be the way to go for absolute protection.
