I went through 5 pages of searching and got no-where...

I recently did Line-X premium on the bed, fender wells, and the plastic fender flares and after a spirited run through some north east trails last week in conjunction with a little incident on the highway... I have a significant amount of brush scratches on the exterior of the truck.

Because of this I've been thinking to myself... why not Line-X the exterior of the body panels?? Should go on fine... it has a lifetime warranty... the premium won't fade... there would be no need to do in the door jams, under the hood, etc. AND I'd never have to wax the truck again.

Not to mention on my tux black I think it'd look awesome.

I can think of a lot of positives with only 1 real negative which would be resale/trade in value decrease (that and if you ever wanted to paint the truck again good luck to ya).

Has anyone done this?? I'm going to call my Line-X place tomorrow and see if I can get an idea of what it would cost.

Anywhere 3-6k with prep. Adds alot of weight. If you live up north with loys of road salt line x prem fades. I have line x prem on fenders ect n it faded after a year. Bed still looks like new. They also dont warranty on anything other than the bed. If yiu have 5 k go for it, i can see many other uses with that cash

I've done it on a Bronco I used to own. Cost was $1500 as I did all the prep and it looked great and didn't fade etc. Wouldn't do it to a Raptor unless you never ever plan on selling as I doubt you'd find someone to buy it imo

I'll be very curious to see the fading on your premium at the snoball, as I have the fender flares and wells done. How long did you have yours until you noticed fade?

As for prep I don't see it being overly involved like a real paint job. Just chemical clean, tape off the windows/wheels/grill and roll. Again, would only look to do exterior panels.

I'll update the thread when i get a quote.

Anyone have any idea of how much it will weigh? I think it looks great. :grd:

I too am curious about the premium fading. I'm about two weeks away from doing my fender wells, bed, grill, bumpers and bed cap rails. That was the reason i wanted to go with the premium, no fading...Anyone know if the premium is guaranteed against fading?

100 pounds on top of the 6k... meh lol

again this is just a grand idea at the moment.

Big Brother, as Netix said the preimum has a lifetime warranty, but as I understand it that is only in the bed of the truck as it's a bed liner and not a paint or total paint protectant... They told me when mine was done that the fender wells will count toward the warranty because it's still technically the bed, but the fender flares don't and could potentially crack and shell off as the plastic doesn't take near as well as the bed.
