LEDs on Upfitter vs splicing - when on?

I purchased two kits from f150leds.com, the amber vent and amber running boards. It was a…request…from the lady. I’m debating between following their instructions to splice it into the existing lightning vs tying them into Upfitter 2. I understand that if I splice, whenever I unlock the doors and the DRL turn on, so will these. If they are connected to #2, and I leave #2 on, how different will the behavior be? I guess I’m asking are those only on when the vehicle is on / in ACC mode? I’d prefer the ability to switch them off from in cabin, not using an under the hood switch etc. I’d appreciate any recommendations or thoughts.
