Been transporting working dogs for 10 years in an old subaru with leather and my chevy 2500. Everything from 100 pound GSD MilitaryWorkingDogs to agility boxers and gun dogs. Never once had a problem amd rarely do i crate them in the bed. 3 months into raptor ownership and I have a tear in the leather. What the hell ford. What good is leather if it ****** thin.

where is the tear?

I’ve been trying to think what I could do to keep my .45 from holing the seat leather.

It's right at the front of the seat at the seam. Turns out to make the seat cooler/heater work well the leather needs to be thin and have perforations in it making it rather weak. Makes sense but damn. If your gun hits the non perforated side holsters it's probably not too bad. But the center section is weeeeeak.

Noted. I guess I’ll need to hit the salad bar a little more often.

This isn’t unique to the Rap though. I was headed off to training with my colleague and on a lark, we took his wife’s hummer. Allegedly, my spare magazine holed the front seat leather. Damn.

The change in the leather in the King Ranch editions makes that interior option almost worthless...went from full KR saddle leather coverage for the seats to sliver inserts to accommodate the cooled seats. I live in SC where I love the cooled seats, but there definitely was a tradeoff in seat material thickness/quality.

I have the base model seats which are wonderful thick feeling cloth material... almost like canvass. Might be worth looking into if your hauling dogs around.

thanks, i ended up taking duck canvas and sewing loops into it to hang on the back of the headrests front and rear. So it drapes down and covers the whole rear interior.
