I bought an Alpha 1 Bandit bumper from G&P racing off the forum a little while ago. When I got it it was pretty rough. The skids were thrashed, paint missing, a few dents, and bowed crossbars. Here's a picture of what it looked like before:
The first thing I did was get the skid plates cut so I could get them coated with the bumper. I took them to Tinknockers in Temple, TX and let's just say I didn't have the greatest experience with them. It took about a month and a half for them to cut the skids, after about 6 appointments that they canceled.
The next thing I did was try to test fit it and see if it would actually fit being so dinged up. It didn't, so I borrowed a hydraulic ram from a coworker and bent out the bowed crossbars on the lower skid plate. It still didn't fit, so I had to grind the frame horns a little for it to finally fit. Then I drilled and countersunk the skids.
Called around where I live to and ended up finding a powder coating place in Austin that gave me a really good quote. Couldn't make it there during the week, so I set up an appointment to drop it off on a Saturday. Drove an hour and a half to the place to drop it off and no one ever showed.
I ended up taking it to a Highpoint in Liberty Hill that originally gave me a crazy high quote to powder coat the bumper. But after talking to someone else, I got a better deal and decided to get my factory beauty locks coated.
For the lights, I decided to not break the bank on some high dollar HID's and just retrofit my own. I bought 4 Hella Rallye 4000 HID's and got a conversion kit I found on amazon. I bought the conversion kit because it was "number one" or whatever in automotive lighting. I guess that's just because they're cheap. Ended up getting 4300K color temp. All 4 of them had slightly different color temps. But one of them was very obviously not 4300K, I guess that's what I get for buying cheap stuff, lol.
But after 3 months of ******** with the bumper, I finally had it all done and ready to put on.
Sorry for the bad iPhone pictures, I don't really have a fancy camera.
